Rishikesh, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Rishikesh, nestled in the serene landscapes of Uttarakhand, is renowned for its yoga, Ganga Aarti, and miraculous temples. Among its sacred sites is the ancient Manokamana Siddh Hanuman Temple, a place steeped in spirituality.
This revered temple houses a sacred pindi (stone) of Guru Gorakhnath and Lord Hanuman, believed to have manifested here. A magnificent stone idol of Bajrangbali was later installed, enhancing the temple’s significance. On a recent Tuesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared a special post about the temple on the social media platform X.
In his video, CM Dhami highlighted, “The Manokamana Siddh Hanuman Temple in Rishikesh is one of the major centers of faith. Tuesdays and Saturdays see a particularly large gathering of devotees. If you visit Rishikesh, make sure to seek Lord Hanuman’s blessings at this sacred temple.”
The temple is known for fulfilling every sincere wish, which is why it is referred to as the Manokamana Siddh Hanuman Temple. Nestled among hills and along the banks of the Ganges, it serves not only as a center of devotion but also offers visitors a sense of mental peace and positive energy.
The temple is mentioned in the Skanda Purana, where it is said that a Siddha Baba performed intense penance here, earning the grace of Lord Hanuman. Following this, he established a stone idol of Bajrangbali, leading to the temple’s name ‘Siddhbali.’
Legend has it that Hanuman accepted the role of a guardian at this site to fulfill a promise made to one of his devotees, and he is believed to be ever-present here. Devotees often host community feasts (bhandaras) to express their gratitude once their wishes are fulfilled. The demand for hosting bhandaras is so high that advance bookings are required, sometimes years in advance.
This temple stands as a testament to the deep-rooted faith and spiritual energy that Rishikesh embodies, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking blessings and tranquility.
