New Delhi, August 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet Indian athletes who have brought pride to the nation at the Commonwealth Games 2026 this Sunday at 4 PM. The athletes are visibly excited about the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister.
Shubham Juyal, a para-athlete and silver medalist in men’s shot put F57 at the Commonwealth Games 2026, expressed his feelings, saying, “When I was selected for the Commonwealth Games, I felt great. I was confident that India would win two medals—one for Soman Rana and one for me. My experience at the Commonwealth Games was fantastic, as it was my first major event. I learned a lot from this experience, and I believe it will help me in future competitions.”
He added, “Discipline, consistency, and the right intent always help. I think we have received significant support from the government. If you look at the number of broken national records this year, it is truly commendable.”
Regarding the meeting with PM Modi, Shubham Juyal stated, “Our schedule has been quite busy after the Commonwealth Games, and now I have the chance to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I believe this is a great opportunity, as very few people get to meet their country’s Prime Minister. This meeting becomes even more special after such achievements. The Prime Minister is also very interested in sports.”
Seema Kaliraman, the bronze medalist in women’s discus throw, shared, “Every athlete dreams of such an experience. Our Prime Minister supports athletes in every way and encourages us in all matters. He regularly checks on us. As soon as we won the medals, he congratulated us. I sincerely thank him. PM Modi has a very humble nature.”
Soman Rana, who won the gold medal in men’s shot put F57 at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, expressed his joy about meeting PM Modi, saying, “I am from the army. I am very happy to have the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister today. Meeting him after winning at the Commonwealth Games and receiving his blessings has been very inspiring and motivating for me. I feel very proud. May the PM continue to encourage us, and we will keep winning medals for the country.”
