ED Conducts Raids in Srinagar Linked to Terror Funding Case

The Enforcement Directorate has conducted raids in Srinagar related to a terror funding investigation involving Umar Adil Dar.

Srinagar, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched significant operations in Srinagar, targeting four locations as part of a terror funding investigation. The raids are linked to Umar Adil Dar and his associates, who are accused of involvement with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Umar Adil Dar is alleged to have acted as an overground worker for the group, actively participating in its activities. Reports indicate that he was previously apprehended while carrying a large sum of cash and objectionable literature associated with the organization.

Further investigations revealed that Dar had spent nearly four years in jail due to his alleged involvement in separatist and anti-India activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

The current ED operation aims to trace the proceeds of crime, identify financial networks and funding channels, and gather evidence related to cross-border handlers and alleged terror financing activities.

In a related development, on November 2, the ED conducted raids at seven locations in Delhi and Kolkata concerning illegal fund transfers disguised as software imports. During that operation, authorities seized ₹4.7 million in cash and foreign currency. The ED’s Visakhapatnam sub-zonal office initiated this action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, estimating that the proceeds of crime in this case could amount to approximately ₹150 billion.
