DMK to Release Election Manifesto Ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections

Chennai, March 28: Political parties in Tamil Nadu are gearing up for the upcoming assembly elections. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced on Saturday that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will unveil its election manifesto on Sunday and kick off statewide campaigning on March 31.

This announcement came as Stalin released the list of 164 candidates for the elections scheduled for April 23.

Emphasizing representation and qualifications, Chief Minister Stalin stated that the candidate list reflects a blend of experience, education, and fresh talent. Among the 164 candidates, 125 are graduates, and 18 are women.

Notably, seven candidates hold PhDs, 15 have doctorates, 17 possess engineering degrees, and 29 have law degrees.

In a significant move towards organizational renewal, Stalin mentioned that over 60 new faces have been given the opportunity to contest.

He added, “We have ensured a balance between experience and youthful talent. These candidates represent the aspirations of the public and the future direction of the party.”

Responding to criticisms regarding the delay in announcing candidates, Stalin defended the timing, citing the need for extensive discussions within the alliance.

He explained, “Many have asked why we did not release our list earlier. We have a broad coalition. We patiently spoke with all partners, ensured their satisfaction, made agreements, and carefully finalized the list.”

Stalin further stated, “This is a time to unite everyone. The DMK has formed a large coalition, and we are moving forward with collective strength.”

He noted that preparations for the assembly elections began immediately after the parliamentary elections, reflecting the party’s initial plans and strategic vision.

With the manifesto set to be released and campaigning starting on March 31, the DMK is poised for an intense electoral battle with a comprehensive strategy and diverse candidates.
