Bhagalpur, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : In Bhagalpur, a monthly review meeting of the District Health Committee was held under the leadership of District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey on September 19. The meeting focused on achievements from August and the progress of special health campaigns currently underway in September. Pandey urged for an enhancement in the quality of health services and stressed the need to meet set targets without fail. She expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of certain health institutions and warned that disciplinary action would follow if improvements were not made.
During the meeting, the registration data through the ‘Scan and Share’ initiative was discussed. In August, the district recorded 87,722 registrations compared to a total of 88,717 OPD registrations, achieving nearly 99 percent success. Additionally, the online medical consultation ratio via the ‘Bhavya’ platform was reported to be close to 100 percent.
The performance of community health centers was also scrutinized. The vital checks for admitted patients at the Rangra center stood at 17 percent, while the Jagdishpur center reported 38 percent. The District Magistrate expressed her disappointment and ordered the responsible medical officers to ensure 100 percent compliance in September, warning of potential disciplinary actions for failure to meet this target.
In the emergency department, the Sultan Ganj referral hospital recorded a mere 2 percent success rate in vital checks, while the Kahalgaon sub-divisional hospital achieved 18 percent. Pandey mandated that all patients’ vital signs in the emergency, OPD, and inpatient departments must be checked and uploaded to the Bhavya portal.
As part of the NCD campaign, by September 17, Bhagalpur district had screened 282,997 individuals, achieving 14.6 percent of the total target and 82.3 percent of the goal for the designated period. The Anemia-Free India campaign reported screenings for 169,006 individuals, representing 47 percent of the total target and 209 percent of the target for the designated period. The District Magistrate instructed that all individuals showing symptoms of anemia undergo necessary testing to identify causes and ensure proper treatment.
The review also covered the TB-Free India campaign. Officials reported a screening target of 393,255 people, with 612,484 individuals already screened. In the sensitive population category, 62,572 individuals underwent X-rays against a target of 305,664. Meanwhile, out of 4,924 microbiology tests, 4,915 nucleic acid amplification tests were conducted, achieving a 99.8 percent success rate.
During the assessment of maternal and child health services, it was noted that under the PMSMA scheme, 3,586 pregnant women were screened, identifying 827 high-risk pregnancies, with 746 of these receiving management. The District Magistrate directed that explanations be sought from medical officers in institutions where the identification rate of high-risk pregnancies was below the district average.
The meeting also reviewed the status of ANC registrations, first-trimester ANC, four ANC check-ups, IFA distribution, institutional deliveries, C-sections, and complete immunization. A total of 8,830 children were fully immunized during the reporting month, exceeding the monthly target by 110 percent, while the rate of institutional deliveries was recorded at 78 percent.
Currently, out of the 3,191 sanctioned ASHA positions, 2,690 have been filled, leaving 501 vacancies. The District Magistrate instructed all medical officers to expedite the selection of ASHAs for the vacant positions within a month.
From the total 2,310 ASHAs registered on the M-ASHA portal, 2,197 are active, resulting in an activity rate of 95.11 percent. Under the child health program, RBSK teams screened a total of 18,852 children in August. The review of NRC referrals indicated that from June to August 2026, a total of 94 SAM children were referred.
The meeting concluded with discussions on the progress of OPD, EHR, IPD, emergency services, bed occupancy, maternal and child health services, and family planning programs. The district’s bed occupancy rate for August was reported at 99.02 percent.
District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey emphasized the need for continuous improvement in health service quality and timely delivery of government health schemes to targeted beneficiaries. She directed officials to identify shortcomings highlighted during the review and take necessary steps to address them, ensuring regular monitoring of health programs.
