Digvijaya Singh Announces Sanatan Swabhimaan Yatra from Ujjain to Ayodhya Amid Ram Mandir Donation Controversy

Bhopal, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Digvijaya Singh has formally announced the launch of the ‘Sanatan Swabhimaan Yatra’ to address the ongoing controversy surrounding donations for the Ram Mandir. The pilgrimage is set to begin on October 20, 2026, from Ujjain and will conclude in Ayodhya. Singh emphasized that this journey is entirely non-political and encouraged people to participate.

While announcing the yatra, Singh described it as a journey from ‘Shivdham to Ramdham.’ He noted that the festival of Dussehra symbolizes the victory of righteousness over evil, which inspired his decision to undertake this pilgrimage. Singh clarified that the purpose of the yatra is not to oppose any political party or individual but to hold a mirror to those allegedly involved in misusing the faith and donations of devotees.

Singh leveled serious accusations against the government regarding the alleged misuse of donations linked to the Ram Mandir Trust. He claimed that the government is attempting to protect Champat Rai, a key figure associated with the trust. According to Singh, some individuals involved in the trust, established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are also accused of misconduct.

He stated that the misuse of funds collected from devotees at the center of their faith will not be tolerated. Singh alleged that money meant for donations has been used to purchase vehicles and construct houses, leading to claims of a multi-crore scam. He called for an investigation and accountability, insisting that the funds from devotees should be managed transparently.

During the announcement, Singh reflected on his past political stance, mentioning that despite opposing the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), he participated in the Ram Shila Pujan campaign in 1988-89.

He urged the public to join the ‘Sanatan Swabhimaan Yatra,’ reinforcing that it is not about supporting or opposing any political party. Singh described the campaign as a tribute to the Sanatan tradition, faith, and respect for devotees, aiming to raise awareness about the allegations surrounding the Ram Mandir donations.
