Difference among Nagaland UDA on RS candidate

Kohima, Mar 20 : When the process of ‘All Party Government’ by the UDA is on in Nagaland, there were differences between the Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) party for the Rajya Sabha candidate as the ted Democratic Alliance (UDA) partner BJP has announced S Phangnon Konyak as its candidate for the polls to the Upper House of Parliament. According to various sources of the party that the differences came to the forefront when the NPF decided to field veteran politician, NPF Working President and former Nagaland Assembly Speaker Thenucho Tunyi as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election. The NPF which joined the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) -BJP ruling dispensation in September last year to form the opposition-less UDA Government has 25 MLAs, NDPP has 19 MLAs, BJP has 12 MLAs and two Independent MLAs in the Nagaland Assembly. Meanwhile, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio reportedly said on Saturday that the NDPP would respect its alliance with the BJP and make way for the alliance partner BJP in the upcoming polls. Rio said this after the announcement of the BJP that it has selected S Phangnon Konyak, President of Mahila Morcha of Nagaland t, as its candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat of Nagaland, which will be left vacant after the tenure of incumbent NPF MP KG Kenye retiring on April 2 next. The last date of filing nomination is by 3.00 PM of Monday, March 21 tomorrow. AS RN
