Devastating Fire in Mansaram Park Destroys 80 Shanties

New Delhi, March 12: A sudden fire broke out late Wednesday night in Mansaram Park, located in the Bindapur police station area of Delhi, causing chaos among residents. Fortunately, the police and fire department responded quickly to control the blaze.

According to reports, at 11:57 PM on March 11, 2026, the Bindapur police received a PCR call about a significant fire in the shanties of Mansaram Park. Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the scene and evacuated residents before calling in the fire brigade.

Around 28 fire tenders arrived at the location, and by 3 AM, they managed to extinguish the fire. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties. However, approximately 80 shanties were completely destroyed in the incident.

This is not the first fire in the area. On March 7, 2026, there was another fire reported in Mansaram Park, which was quickly brought under control with the help of eight fire tenders. No injuries were reported in that incident either, and an FIR was registered at the Bindapur police station under case number 155/26, Section 326(F) BNS.

According to the revenue department, the land is privately owned, but there are disputes regarding its ownership. There have been previous complaints about garbage dumping and arson in this area. A cleanup operation was scheduled by DM Kapeshara on March 7, 2026, but it was postponed due to logistical issues.

The exact cause of this latest fire remains unclear. The district administration has announced that a debris removal drive will soon commence in collaboration with the MCD.

Dwarka DCP Kushal Pal Singh stated that the police and fire department acted swiftly to control the fire. The situation is currently under control, and the true cause of the fire will be determined after an investigation.
