Demographic Changes in West Bengal: A Serious Concern, Claims CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, April 17: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis openly addressed several pressing issues on Friday, including West Bengal’s political landscape, demographic changes, the Nashik TCS incident, and what he termed “corporate jihad.” He launched a sharp attack on the Mamata Banerjee government, accusing it of promoting illegal immigration.

Speaking in Rajarhat, Fadnavis emphasized that the upcoming elections are not merely about removing one party from power. He stated that it is crucial to stop illegal immigrants in West Bengal. “Mamata Didi has abandoned the path of development and opted for shortcuts. She aims to remain in power not through development but by altering the demographics. This is why she has paved the way for Bangladeshi infiltrators. The demographic shift in West Bengal has become a serious issue. The Mamata Banerjee government is encouraging this change, which poses a threat to the state’s culture, security, and identity,” he asserted.

Fadnavis also targeted Mamata Banerjee and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), stating, “Parties like TMC and AIMIM are interconnected. They issue statements to support each other and then criticize one another. This is their strategy. I clearly say that no one will be able to construct a Babri Mosque, but we will not spare those who harbor the spirit of Babur.”

He referenced alleged attacks on the Election Commission and the judiciary, saying, “When elections were held in Maharashtra, the Election Commission changed our DGP and Chief Secretary. We did not respond. We accepted all fair steps taken by the Election Commission and won the elections. However, the situation in Bengal is entirely different. Here, the Chief Minister herself visits the offices of central agencies, snatches files, and leaves. I believe there can be no greater defeat for democracy than this.”

Regarding the incident at TCS in Nashik, he remarked, “This is a very serious matter, and we are conducting a thorough investigation. I am pleased that TCS’s senior leadership has condemned the incident and is cooperating fully with the investigation. They are formulating new policies to prevent such occurrences. We are also examining whether this is an isolated incident or part of a larger conspiracy. Is this ‘corporate jihad’? We are investigating that as well.”
