Delhi Police Files Charge Sheet in Uttam Nagar Murder Case

New Delhi, May 6: The Delhi Police has taken significant action in the murder case of 26-year-old Tarun, who died during a dispute on Holi in Uttam Nagar. A comprehensive 500-page charge sheet has been submitted to the Dwarka Court.

The charge sheet names 18 individuals as accused, out of a total of 20 suspects, including two minors. The case against the juvenile offenders has been referred to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) for further action.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on March 4, during Holi celebrations in the JJ Colony of Uttam Nagar. A water balloon thrown by a 7 to 9-year-old girl hit a woman standing on the street, leading to a minor argument that escalated into violence. Allegations state that one group attacked the other with sticks and iron rods as tensions rose.

The charge sheet reveals that Tarun was brutally beaten near his home after the altercation. He sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized, but tragically succumbed to his injuries the following day. Tarun was pursuing a digital marketing course at the time of his death.

The Delhi Police has filed charges against the accused under various serious sections, including the SC/ST Act, unlawful assembly, and inciting riots. Additionally, sections 95 and 103(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been invoked.

As of now, two suspects remain at large, and non-bailable warrants have been issued against them. The police are actively searching for these individuals.

Following the incident, tensions flared in the area, prompting the deployment of a heavy police presence and Rapid Action Force (RAF) units. The situation took on a communal tone, leading to heightened security measures during Eid and monitoring of incendiary posts on social media.

Political reactions have also emerged, with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other leaders condemning the incident and assuring justice for the victim’s family.
