Delhi Police Commissioner inspects safety arrangements for students, focusing on women’s security at Delhi University’s South Campus.

New Delhi, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Delhi University’s South Campus and the Satya Niketan area have become focal points for enhanced student safety, particularly for women. On October 16, the Delhi Police Commissioner conducted an on-site inspection to assess security measures.

Anurag Kumar, the Commissioner, was joined by senior officials including Neeraj Thakur, Special CP (Law and Order-I), S.K. Jain, Joint CP (OSD to CP), and Amit Goyal, DCP of South West. The visit aimed to review law and order and ensure the safety of students, especially those residing in postgraduate programs and hostels.

During the tour, police officials examined the patrolling methods in the area. They engaged directly with students to hear their concerns and suggestions. The Delhi Police stated that senior officers not only inspected the patrolling techniques but also listened to students’ feedback.

Following recent complaints regarding incidents of harassment and theft, the police have decided to bolster security in the vicinity. According to sources, the Commissioner has directed an increase in nighttime patrols, the establishment of checkpoints in sensitive areas, and the activation of special teams focused on women’s safety. Additionally, there are plans to promote a helpline number specifically for students.
