New Delhi, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in New Delhi announced the dismantling of a fraudulent call center in the Sangam Vihar area, which was allegedly scamming unemployed individuals under the guise of providing job placements. The North District’s Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) reported the arrests of five suspects, aged between 19 and 30, on Sunday.
The police received a tip-off on September 1 regarding suspicious activities at a call center located in Jharoda Majra. Upon verification, they discovered that the operation was deceiving job seekers by promising employment with reputable companies.
During the raid, police apprehended Satish Chandra Maurya and other tele-callers actively running the center. Three additional suspects were found soliciting money from job applicants using various fabricated excuses, engaging in what appeared to be a fraudulent recruitment scheme.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects contacted job seekers, offering positions such as data entry operators, data analysts, web designers, and accountants. They pressured candidates to pay fees at various stages of the supposed recruitment process. The police seized nine mobile phones, a tablet, seven debit cards, two bank passbooks, three notepads with mobile numbers, and ₹6,730 in cash during the operation.
Further inquiries uncovered that the accused were obtaining personal information of job seekers through an app called “Job Hai Support.” Candidates registered on the app and applied for different job opportunities. The suspects particularly targeted those who had applied to Tata Motors, posing as representatives of the recruitment process.
Victims were misled into believing that multiple payments were necessary to complete various stages of recruitment, leading to repeated financial demands under false pretenses. If any victim refused to pay or expressed inability to do so, the suspects would block their phone numbers, abruptly cutting off communication.
The police stated that the investigation is ongoing, focusing on identifying other accomplices and tracing the financial transactions involved in this extensive fraud network.
