New Delhi, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi police have arrested a wanted criminal in the Nand Nagri area, known for his involvement in five serious cases, including attempted murder and robbery. During the operation, officers seized two illegal firearms and ammunition from the suspect.
On Saturday, police patrolling the Nand Nagri precinct received a tip-off about an individual seen loading a pistol near a park in the C-block area on September 4. Acting swiftly, the police reviewed CCTV footage, which showed a man in a light blue T-shirt and black cap loading the weapon, accompanied by another individual.
Further investigation revealed that the man in the footage was identified as Rohit, whose brother operates a mobile repair shop. During questioning, the brother confirmed that Rohit was the one seen loading the gun and mentioned that he had been admitted to a rehabilitation center for substance abuse on September 5.
The police then proceeded to the rehabilitation center, where Rohit, also known as Polly, admitted to being the person in the CCTV footage. He also disclosed the identity of the accomplice. Following this, police searched Rohit’s residence, uncovering two illegal firearms and three live cartridges.
A case has been registered against Rohit under the Arms Act, and an investigation is underway. Authorities are delving into the source of the illegal weapons and the role of the second individual seen in the footage.
