New Delhi, 8 December (Daily Kiran) – The Delhi High Court has directed social media platforms and e-commerce websites to take action against the use of any content related to Telugu film actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Junior’s (Junior NTR) photos or personality without prior permission. Justice Manmeet Preet Singh Arora ordered these platforms to comply within three days. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for 22 December.
During the hearing, Junior NTR’s counsel stated that various e-commerce and social media platforms were violating his personality rights. Following this, the court instructed the platforms to treat the petition as a complaint under the IT Act and take necessary action within three days. The court also said it will issue detailed orders on 22 December.
On 27 November, the court had issued an interim order prohibiting the use of actor Ajay Devgn’s photos or personality-related content without permission. It further ordered the removal of AI and deepfake-generated content from the internet. Recently, the High Court has repeatedly ruled against unauthorized use of photos and personality rights of prominent figures.
Earlier, the court had directed against unauthorized use of personality-related content of actress and MP Jaya Bachchan, journalist Sudhir Chaudhary, Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Telugu actor Nagarjuna, actress Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, and film producer Karan Johar.
