Delhi govt asks schools to close down if Covid cases reported

New Delhi, April 15 : In view of rising Covid-19 infection among the children, the education department on Thursday issued an advisory asking the schools to temporarily shut down a section or the whole premises if a student or a staff test positive. “If any Covid-19 case is noticed or reported to the school authority the same must be intimated to the Directorate of Education immediately and the concerned wing of the school or the school as a whole as the case may be, must be closed down for time being,” the advisory said. The advisory also directed the schools to mandatorily report the cases of infection and impose Covid-19 appropriate behaviour inside the campus. “The students and staff must wear masks and maintain social distancing to the extent possible,” said the Directorate of Education (DoE). Among other measures listed in the advisory include wearing of masks by students, teachers and other staff of schools, maintenance of social distancing to the possible extent. The Covid-19 cases has been on a spike in Delhi NCR for the last few days, especially among the school going children. A private school in South Delhi today reported a student and teacher testing positive for Covid-19. The student’s classmates were sent home and the student and the teacher are in stable condition.
