Delhi Government to Launch 20 Modern Geriatric Ambulances Soon: Minister Pankaj Singh

New Delhi, April 15: The Delhi government is set to enhance its emergency health services by launching 20 modern geriatric ambulances. These ambulances are specifically designed to cater to the medical needs of senior citizens. Equipped with advanced medical facilities, they aim to improve response times and ensure better pre-hospital care for elderly residents in the capital during emergencies.

Currently, the Centralized Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) operates 331 ambulances through its centralized control room (toll-free number 102), which is also linked to the 112 emergency response support system. With the addition of these 20 geriatric ambulances, the total number of ambulances in Delhi will rise to 351, further strengthening emergency services in the capital. The Delhi government plans to gradually expand its ambulance fleet to 1,000, creating a robust emergency network tailored to future needs.

This initiative is part of the Delhi government’s vision to make healthcare services more accessible, effective, and robust. The government has allocated a budget of ₹13,034 crores for the health sector. Additionally, there is a focused effort to expedite the completion of pending projects in government hospitals and enhance critical care facilities, ensuring a solid foundation for emergency services like CATS.

Speaking on this initiative, Delhi’s Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh stated that the launch of modern geriatric ambulances reflects the government’s commitment to building an inclusive healthcare system sensitive to the needs of every citizen, especially the elderly. These ambulances, equipped with modern life-support systems, will ensure timely medical assistance. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, efforts are underway to strengthen hospital infrastructure and critical care facilities, facilitating seamless access to quality treatment at the ground level.

Through continuous improvements in advanced emergency services and health infrastructure, our government is moving towards creating a more effective, inclusive, and patient-centered healthcare system, with a particular focus on the care and welfare of senior citizens.
