New Delhi, April 5 : In the midst of a heat wave in north India, Delhi-NCR is likely to get some relief from scorching heat, as the India Meteorological department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted a cloudy sky throughout the day. However, the weather agency forecasts spells of heatwave in Punjab, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. According to IMD, the maximum temperature during the day will be around 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 19 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, The Safdarjung Observatory mentioned that the temperatures remained five notches above normal at 38.1 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature settled at 19 degrees Celsius. In other parts of the country, IMD said, heatwave spells are likely to continue in the central and western parts of the country. “Heat Wave Spell likely to continue over Punjab, south Haryana-Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh during next 5 days and over Gujarat, Vidarbha, Jharkhand during next 2 days” IMD said in a tweet on Tuesday. The weather department attributed the unusual heat to the lack of rainfall due to the absence of active western disturbances over north India and any major system over south India. JA ACL1031
