
New Delhi, May 5: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited families affected by the tragic fire incident in Vivek Vihar, Delhi, on Tuesday. She regarded this unfortunate event as a serious warning and issued strict directives to the relevant departments.
Gupta instructed officials to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future and that the highest fire safety standards are strictly adhered to. She shared this information via a post on the social media platform ‘X’.
During her visit, CM Rekha Gupta expressed her condolences to the families impacted by the heartbreaking fire accident in Vivek Vihar. “In this time of sorrow, we stand with them with utmost sensitivity and determination, committed to providing all possible assistance. I pray to God to give the families the strength to endure this immense grief,” she stated.
She further emphasized that this unfortunate incident should serve as a serious warning. All relevant departments have been instructed to ensure that such events do not happen again, and any negligence or compromise regarding fire safety standards will not be tolerated.
The tragic fire in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi, occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in the loss of nine lives. The incident was caused by an explosion in the air conditioning unit of a building located in a posh colony’s B-block. Officials reported that over ten individuals were rescued during the rescue and relief operations.
