Delhi Chief Minister Inaugurates Vehicle Fitness Testing Center in Burari

Delhis CM Rekha Gupta opens a new vehicle fitness center in Burari, enhancing pollution control and road safety efforts.

Burari, September 26 (Daily Kiran) : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a state-of-the-art vehicle fitness testing center in Burari on Saturday, marking a significant step in pollution control efforts.

In a post on the social media platform X, Gupta stated, “Under the Seva Sankalp campaign, we have launched an advanced automated testing station in Burari. This center has the capacity to conduct fitness tests for 90,000 vehicles annually.”

She highlighted that this is the second automated testing station established in Delhi within just 23 days, following the opening in Tehkhanda on September 3. “Our government works at this pace,” she added.

Gupta emphasized that proper vehicle fitness, accurate inspections, and improved monitoring would enhance road safety. This initiative also aims to bolster the government’s ongoing efforts in pollution control.

The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries, including MP Manoj Tiwari and Delhi Cabinet Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh.

Earlier, amidst a strike by a section of DTC contract bus drivers, Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh held a meeting with representatives from OEMs and operators. The discussions focused on reviewing issues related to contract drivers operating under the cluster scheme, aiming to maintain public transport services in Delhi.

During the meeting, Singh stressed the importance of ensuring welfare facilities for contract drivers working with private operators. He also emphasized the need for adequate staffing and necessary arrangements for bus services.

Key topics discussed included health insurance, accident insurance, timely salary slips, and the issuance of joining and appointment letters for contract drivers and their families. Additional incentives based on performance, along with weekly and monthly leave, were also considered.

Singh remarked, “The welfare of contract drivers and the uninterrupted operation of public transport services are both critical. We have discussed the major issues raised by the drivers and proposed solutions.”

He urged the involved parties to explore the feasibility of implementing these measures in accordance with existing laws, agreements, and operational requirements, ensuring that bus services remain uninterrupted.
