Delhi Assemblys PAC to Investigate Ex-Chief Minister Kejriwals Official Residence

New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is set to visit the official residence of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, commonly referred to as “Sheesh Mahal,” located in North Delhi. This visit, scheduled for Monday, aims to evaluate expenditures allegedly incurred during the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Sources indicate that Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta and PAC Chairman Ajay Mahawar will inspect the bungalow at 6, Flagstaff Road in Civil Lines. They are expected to document their observations and findings using cameras during the visit.

The bungalow became a focal point in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the renovation costs as excessive and unnecessary. BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has consistently accused Kejriwal of violating government regulations in the renovation process.

In response to opposition leader Atishi’s claims dismissing the allegations of wasteful spending, Kapoor recently took to social media platform X to question why the construction of the bungalow at 6, Flagstaff Road proceeded without the necessary approvals from the Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

He further queried why the entire project budget was not approved as a whole, instead of being split into smaller repair tenders. Kapoor also raised the question of why the residence, if intended as the Chief Minister’s official home, was not formally designated as such.

In July, Delhi’s Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Pravesh Verma announced plans to convert the currently sealed bungalow into a state guest house. Verma has previously targeted Kejriwal over this issue, sharing a video on social media that compared him to a fictional character. He also released a satirical video titled “Dhurdhandar Part-3,” showcasing the alleged lavish amenities provided at Kejriwal’s official residence.
