Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Orders Investigation into Alleged Misconduct at Bijapur School

Bijapur, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has taken serious note of allegations of misconduct involving female students at the Eklavya Residential School in Bijapur. He directed the district collector and the superintendent of police to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure strict legal action against those found guilty.

The Chief Minister stressed that there would be no compromise on the safety and dignity of children. He insisted that complaints related to inappropriate behavior, harassment, or unsafe environments must be addressed promptly and sensitively. Officials who fail to act on such complaints or attempt to conceal them will be held accountable.

In a bid to enhance oversight, the Chief Minister instructed all collectors and police superintendents across the state to regularly inspect girls’ hostels, ashrams, and residential schools. These inspections should evaluate security measures, the presence of responsible staff, and the effectiveness of systems in place for addressing student grievances. The goal is to create an environment where girls feel safe to voice their concerns to authorities.

He emphasized that the administration should not wait for complaints to arise. Instead, officials should proactively identify and prevent potential issues through ongoing dialogue and monitoring.

The Chief Minister also directed the education department and police to take immediate and coordinated action whenever complaints of misconduct, harassment, intimidation, or threats against girls are reported. Affected students should receive necessary counseling and support without delay.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, Sai highlighted that the safety, respect, and dignity of children in the state’s residential schools and hostels are paramount. Any negligence in ensuring their safety will result in severe consequences for those responsible.

These directives come amid growing concerns regarding student safety in residential educational institutions, particularly in remote areas. The Chief Minister’s firm stance is expected to prompt swift action from the administration and police in Bijapur, while also strengthening accountability across the state.
