Defense Minister and UP CM Inaugurate Laser, Light, and Sound Show at Smritika War Memorial

Lucknow, April 12: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a state-of-the-art laser, light, and sound show at the Smritika War Memorial in Lucknow Cantonment on Saturday. This multimedia presentation, lasting approximately 30 minutes, showcases the history of the Indian Army, its achievements in military operations, and its contributions to nation-building through advanced projection, sound, and lighting techniques in Hindi. The show will be held daily in the evenings and will soon be open to the general public.

The multimedia presentation provides a brief overview of India’s major wars, particularly highlighting key operational aspects of the conflicts in 1947-48, 1962, 1965, and 1971, as well as the significant contributions made during the Meghdoot and Vijay operations. It emphasizes the crucial role of the Central Command in various operations. Additionally, the unique valor of Param Vir Chakra awardees from the Awadh region is showcased, along with a brief account of Awadh’s rich military traditions and their contributions to national defense.

The program also includes discussions on the continuous modernization and transformation of the Indian Army, adapting to emerging threats and changing warfare conditions. Special attention is given to recent advancements in the Indian defense industry, highlighted during Operation Sindoor, and Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as a hub for self-reliance initiatives, exemplified by the state’s defense corridor.

To facilitate and showcase this laser, light, and sound show, extensive renovations are underway at the Smritika War Memorial complex. This includes the installation of state-of-the-art projectors and speakers, as well as murals displaying new-generation military equipment and war trophies. A modern amphitheater is also being constructed, along with three special mural walls that will serve as a vibrant canvas for the military history display and the laser, light, and sound show. This initiative is being implemented by the Central Command Headquarters in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh government and the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.

Established in 1994, the Smritika War Memorial in Lucknow Cantonment has been a steadfast tribute to the valor, sacrifice, and indomitable spirit of the soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces. Under the auspices of the Central Command Headquarters, this memorial plays a vital role in promoting national pride, preserving military heritage, and raising awareness among the general public, especially the youth.

Present at the event were Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Central Command’s General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, other senior officers of the Indian Army, and officials from the state government.
