
Dubai, February 28: Daryl Mitchell and Sobhana Mostary have been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for January. Mitchell played a pivotal role in leading New Zealand to a remarkable victory in the ODI series against India. Meanwhile, Mostary excelled in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.
Mitchell outperformed India’s Suryakumar Yadav and England’s Joe Root to claim this accolade. He made significant contributions during New Zealand’s tour of India, particularly in the ODI format, where his performance was crucial for his team’s success.
After trailing 0-1 in a three-match ODI series, Mitchell turned the tide by scoring back-to-back centuries. He made 84 runs in the first match, followed by impressive innings of 131* and 137 in the next two games. Thanks to his stellar performances, New Zealand clinched the last two matches, winning the series 2-1.
In total, Mitchell scored 352 runs in the ODI series, earning him the Player of the Series title. This achievement also reinstated him to the number one spot in the ICC ODI rankings.
