Cyber Fraud Impersonating Shiv Sena Leader Shaina NC Targets Nine Victims in Mumbai

Mumbai police uncovered a cyber fraud scheme impersonating Shaina NC, recovering ₹3.15 lakh out of ₹4.90 lakh defrauded from victims.

Mumbai, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : Cybercriminals have exploited the name of Shaina NC, the national secretary and spokesperson for Shiv Sena, to defraud nine individuals in Mumbai. Following a three-month investigation, local police revealed the scam, managing to recover ₹3.15 lakh of the total ₹4.90 lakh stolen.

The fraudsters gained access to Shaina NC’s mobile phone and sent messages to her contacts, requesting an urgent transfer of ₹49,000. They assured recipients that the money would be returned within two hours. Because the messages appeared to come from a familiar source, all nine victims complied and transferred funds, resulting in a total loss of ₹4.90 lakh.

Shaina NC filed a complaint at the Gavdevi police station in Mumbai. During the investigation, police examined the victims’ bank accounts and discovered that the stolen funds had been transferred to accounts in Bhandara and Bihar.

Under the guidance of Assistant Police Inspector Virendra Singh Khandade, a police team conducted operations in Bhandara and Bihar. They seized ₹1.68 lakh in cash from Bhandara and recovered ₹98,000 from Bihar.

Another victim, Pankaj Jain, promptly alerted his bank, which successfully froze the transaction and recovered his ₹49,000. After three months of diligent investigation, Mumbai police have secured ₹3.15 lakh of the ₹4.90 lakh lost in the cyber fraud scheme.
