CSK, SRH aim to get back on track

Mumbai, April 8 : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will look to get their campaign back on track when they face-off in the 17th match of IPL at DY Patil Stadium here on Saturday. Both captains, Ravindra Jadeja and Kane Williamson of CSK and SRH respectively, will be looking to seek attention on their winning abilities, as both of them have failed to lead their sides convincingly. CSK have lost all their three matches this season, going down against Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings. Hyderabad, on other hand, also suffered back-to-back defeats, losing their first two matches of the season to Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. Jadeja may seek to draw inspiration from the past record at this venue, where CSK have enjoyed a lot of success compared to SRH. Also, CSK have a huge advantage over SRH in their head-to-head matches. In the 16 matches they have played against each other, CSK lead 12-4 against SRH and also hold a lead of 4-2 in their last 6 meetings against SRH in the last three seasons including the double in 2021. CSK would depend on Shivam Dube, who has managed 109 runs from three matches at a magnificent strike rate of 165.15. In the bowling department, they would hope Dywane Bravo continues with his form. He has claimed five wickets from his three appearances. MS Dhoni has hit form early this season. He smashed an unbeaten 50 runs off 38 deliveries in the opener against KKR, and then scored 16 off 6 against LSG, which powered CSK to a mammoth 210/7. The former India captain had also carried out the rescue act in the last match against Punjab with a vital 23 because of which Chennai could reach 126, while chasing 181. CSK would hope that the old fox delivers yet again for them. On the other hand, SRH are deprived of power-hitters in the top three. They have opted for more than a traditional outlook. Rahul Tripathi is yet to sparkle as he did for KKR. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma is yet to establish himself in the IPL after moving between franchises over the last few seasons. Nicholas Pooran is the only batter in SRH who can clear the ropes. Despite getting out on a duck in the first game, Pooran showed glimpses of his dynamism in the second albeit in a losing cause. CSK’s Ambati Rayudu need 29 runs to complete 4000 runs, while Williamson requires 97 runs to complete 2000 runs in IPL. While SRH’s Pooran is 3 maximums away from 300 sixes in T20 cricket, CSK’s Moeen Ali is a wicket away from 150 wickets in T20 cricket. Probable Playing XIs: Chennai Super Kings: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja (c), Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni (wk), Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Dwaine Pretorius, Chris Jordan, Maheesh Theekshana/Dwayne Bravo Sunrisers Hyderabad: Rahul Tripathi, Kane Williamson (c), Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Abdul Samad, Romario Shepherd, Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Umran Malik/Kartik Tyag.
