Lucknow, May 16: In the 59th match of IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a 7-wicket defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). CSK bowler Anshul Kamboj had a tough outing, conceding 63 runs in just 2.4 overs without taking a wicket.
During LSG’s innings, Nicholas Pooran hit four consecutive sixes in the 17th over, leading his team to victory. This marks the second time Anshul has been hit for four sixes in a single over in IPL history. He is now the first bowler to achieve this unfortunate feat twice. Additionally, Anshul recorded the second-most expensive spell for CSK in IPL history.
LSG’s batsmen struck a total of 8 sixes off Anshul, placing him at the top of the list for the most sixes conceded by a bowler in a single IPL innings. Previously, this dubious record belonged to Yash Dayal, who allowed 8 sixes against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023. Anshul is only the second bowler in IPL history to concede over 60 runs while bowling three or fewer overs, following Khaleel Ahmed’s 65 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore without taking a wicket.
At the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, CSK batted first, scoring 187 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Karthik Sharma played a stellar innings, scoring 71 runs off 42 balls, including 6 fours and 5 sixes. Shivam Dube contributed with an unbeaten 32 runs off 16 balls.
However, LSG chased down the target of 188 runs in just 16.4 overs, losing 3 wickets. Mitchell Marsh was the star for LSG, scoring a blistering 90 runs off 38 balls at a strike rate of 236, hitting 9 fours and 7 sixes. Nicholas Pooran remained not out at 32 runs off 17 balls.
