Lucknow, May 19: Reactions from political leaders are pouring in regarding the recent hike in petrol and diesel prices. Congress MP Pramod Tiwari stated in an interview that the increase of three rupees was just the beginning.
Tiwari emphasized the need for an investigation into whether petroleum products are being exported. He argued that there is no justification for raising fuel prices. He highlighted that oil companies have made approximately 30 lakh crore rupees in profits. Under the Congress government, prices were kept below 60-70 rupees. He questioned the current necessity for prices to approach 100 rupees.
Congress MLA Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ also shared her views, stating that people will only be able to travel when electricity and fuel prices are affordable. She criticized the government for lacking foresight and preparation.
Mishra pointed out that the Prime Minister has created an atmosphere of fear in his speeches, warning people to avoid unnecessary travel. Instead, he should address the government’s failures and the difficulties faced by the public. She mentioned issues like long queues for LPG cylinders and the unavailability of gas for weddings, urging the government to focus on these pressing matters.
A resident from Ballia expressed frustration over the rising prices, stating that they are causing significant hardship for the common people. Everything has become expensive, including gas, diesel, and petrol.
Another individual from Delhi acknowledged the difficulties caused by the price hikes but insisted that work cannot be halted. While some challenges exist, he maintained that everything will be fine in the end.
