New Delhi, September 26 (Daily Kiran) : Congress leader Srinivas BV paid tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his birthday, reflecting on his significant contributions during his tenure. He emphasized that even today, the younger generation discusses Singh’s impact on India.
During the tribute, Srinivas BV also addressed the recent controversies surrounding the Election Commission, directing sharp criticism at both the central government and the commission itself. He noted that the world remembers Singh’s legacy, particularly his achievements during UPA-1 and UPA-2, which continue to resonate today. He highlighted key initiatives such as farmer loan waivers, improvements in ITIs, and efforts to enhance the economic status of the poor, asserting that under Singh’s leadership, many people were lifted out of poverty.
The Congress leader accused the BJP government of undermining the contributions of previous prime ministers and attempting to erase their legacies over the past twelve years. He stated that the public is now beginning to appreciate Singh’s tenure.
On the topic of the Election Commission, Srinivas BV referenced allegations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He mentioned that Rahul Gandhi has long raised concerns about the commission, and recent revelations from two officials have lent credence to these accusations. He questioned the whereabouts of the involved officials and criticized the BJP’s Bengal president for allegedly honoring them, suggesting that FIRs should be filed against such individuals.
Srinivas BV further accused the central government of influencing constitutional institutions. He pointed out the passage of laws following the suspension of numerous MPs in Parliament, claiming that the government is attempting to control these institutions to secure electoral victories. He called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action regarding these issues, expressing public concern over the integrity of the Constitution and democratic processes.
He also claimed that some parties within the NDA are expressing fears of irregularities, urging the Election Commission to provide a clear statement on these matters.
