Congress Leader Criticizes Governments Ties with RSS and Student Treatment

Congress leader Jay Prakash Singh condemns the governments actions against students and questions the influence of RSS in governance.

New Delhi, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : Congress leader Jay Prakash Singh has launched a strong attack on the central government and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He raised questions regarding the government’s use of pellet guns, tear gas, water cannons, and baton charges against students, asking why RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has remained silent on these issues. Singh also criticized the government’s refusal to allow opposition leader Rahul Gandhi to speak in Parliament.

“The role of the RSS in today’s governance is clear to everyone. While the public has given a mandate to the BJP, it is the RSS that is actually running the government. This is evident as Mohan Bhagwat seems to be directing affairs in what should be a democratic process,” Singh stated.

He further questioned why Bhagwat does not address the promises made by the Prime Minister to the public. Singh condemned the treatment of students, implying that such actions reflect the ideals of the RSS and BJP. “Is this the behavior we should expect from the RSS and BJP? That the leader of the opposition is silenced in Parliament?” he asked.

The Congress MP highlighted the violence faced by students, mentioning the use of pellet guns, tear gas, and baton charges, and expressed his outrage over the humiliation of young female students. “What kind of democracy is this? Is this how the BJP governs?” he queried.

Singh emphasized the responsibility of the opposition to protest against a government that becomes tyrannical and arrogant. He noted that the opposition has the right to voice concerns within Parliament, but claimed that the ruling party has rendered the institution ineffective. “You cannot claim that the opposition is preventing the House from functioning. It is you who are not allowing it to operate,” he asserted.

He pointed out that neither the Prime Minister nor the Home Minister has been present in Parliament throughout the session. Singh raised concerns about the safety of MPs and questioned the state of the nation. “What is happening in our country? We need solutions,” he urged.

Singh also addressed allegations of vote rigging in Haryana, stating that the media had predicted a Congress win, yet the current Chief Minister claimed preparations were in place for their victory. He demanded transparency from the Chief Minister regarding these preparations.

Finally, Singh criticized the government’s failure to address key issues, citing the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the repeated instances of paper leaks during exams, asserting that no significant changes have been made within the agency since those incidents.
