Kolkata, August 16: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has questioned RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, stating that he should apologize to the nation.
In a conversation with reporters, Chowdhury highlighted that the tricolor flag has not been hoisted at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur for the past 52 years. He urged Bhagwat to publicly express regret, asserting that citizens should not learn about democracy and freedom from such individuals.
Chowdhury also referenced the national anthem and national song, claiming both have been recognized in the country from the beginning. He emphasized that “Vande Mataram” has been part of the nation’s fabric since the time when BJP members opposed the independence movement, suggesting that they seemed disconnected from the concept of freedom.
He recalled that during the partition of the country, people took oaths while chanting “Vande Mataram,” indicating that this is not a new phenomenon. However, he lamented that some have attempted to alter its significance.
Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, commented on Bhagwat’s statements, suggesting that any remarks made by him should be understood in context. He emphasized the importance of grasping the underlying intentions behind Bhagwat’s words before reaching any conclusions. Kadam urged a positive interpretation of Bhagwat’s statements rather than a negative one.
He noted that given the current pace of India’s progress, it is essential to acknowledge this advancement. Being capable means being at the forefront. Once at the top, the nation can better understand its position. Kadam believes that development opportunities have always been strong, and those opposing the RSS will naturally speak against it. He reiterated the importance of understanding Bhagwat’s statements in their full context before forming any judgments.
