Congress Criticizes Government Over Rising CNG Prices: Inflation Man Strikes Again

New Delhi, May 17: The Congress Party has targeted the central government following a second increase in CNG prices within two days. They stated that the “Inflation Man” has struck again, with the government raising CNG prices by ₹3 so far.

On Sunday, the Congress Party took to social media platform ‘X’ to express their concerns, stating, “The whip of ‘Inflation Man’ Modi has struck again. CNG prices increased again today. ₹2 on May 15 and ₹1 on May 17. The government has now raised CNG prices by ₹3. As soon as the elections are over, the government’s recovery process has begun.”

Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinet sarcastically remarked in her ‘X’ post, “CNG prices have been raised in the national interest. In the last three days, CNG has become ₹3 more expensive. Just expect these gradual shocks. You will have to endure this tyranny with a smile.”

It is noteworthy that on Sunday, CNG prices in Delhi saw an increase of ₹1 per kilogram. This marks the second price hike in just two days. Following this increase, the price of CNG in Delhi has reached ₹80.09 per kilogram, while in Noida and Ghaziabad, it now stands at ₹88.70 per kilogram.

Previously, on Friday, CNG prices were raised by ₹2 per kilogram, bringing the rate in Delhi to ₹79.09 per kilogram.

Additionally, on Friday, petrol prices in the national capital also rose by approximately ₹3 per liter, while diesel prices saw a similar increase. Following these adjustments, petrol is now priced at ₹97.77 per liter and diesel at ₹90.67 per liter in Delhi.

This surge in fuel prices comes amid escalating tensions in West Asia and ongoing blockades in one of the world’s most crucial energy trade routes, the Strait of Hormuz. Nearly one-fifth of global oil and gas trade passes through this narrow passage, leading to a rapid increase in international crude oil prices due to supply disruptions.
