Mumbai, March 10: In a thrilling finale of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, India clinched the title for the third time. The nation’s first World Cup victory in 1983 left an indelible mark on the hearts of cricket fans. Many players from that historic win continue to inspire generations with their stories. Among them is a name that has recently emerged, Chirag Patil. Despite never having played a match himself, he brilliantly portrayed his cricketer father in a film.

Chirag Patil was born on March 10, 1987, in Mumbai. His father, Sandeep Patil, is a renowned figure in Indian cricket. Growing up in a cricketing environment, Chirag chose a different path. After completing his education, he earned a degree in B.Sc. Hospitality Management, but fate led him to the film industry.

He began his acting career in 2011 with the Marathi film ‘Rada Rocks’. Later, he made his Bollywood debut in Dev Anand’s film ‘Charge Sheet’. His filmography includes various small and large projects, establishing his identity in Marathi cinema and impressing audiences with his acting skills.

Chirag’s career gained significant attention when he became part of the film ’83’. He portrayed his father, Sandeep Patil, in a role that intrigued fans. Although he never played professional cricket, Chirag left no stone unturned in embodying his father’s character. In an interview, he expressed that being part of the film felt like a dream come true. It was a challenging role, as portraying real-life cricketers is no easy feat, but he approached it with dedication and preparation.

In addition to acting, Chirag is also a businessman. He founded ‘RCSP Hotels and Resorts’ and operates a boutique lakefront resort called ‘The Farmhouse’ in Karjat.
