
Beijing, May 12: The World Table Tennis Team Championship concluded on Sunday in London. The Chinese team triumphed over Japan in both the men’s and women’s finals, securing their 12th consecutive title in the men’s category and their 7th in the women’s.
Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha were named the best male and female players, respectively. Wang Liqin, president of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, stated that the team successfully met all their goals set before the tournament.
Evaluating the team’s performance, Wang noted that both the women’s and youth men’s teams faced numerous challenges during the competition. Despite these difficulties, the players delivered their best in the finals.
He emphasized that even in tough conditions, the athletes never gave up, showcasing their fighting spirit to overcome their rivals and claim the title.
Wang also mentioned that this championship provided the Chinese team with valuable experiences. The men’s team faced stiff competition in the group stage, while the women’s team encountered a tough match in the finals. Both teams proved themselves under pressure.
Wang Liqin further remarked that many teams are emerging strongly in the current world of table tennis. Therefore, Chinese players must approach each match with a competitive mindset.
He expressed hope that the Chinese team would conduct a thorough review of this competition. The goal is to strengthen their skills in future training and competitions while identifying and improving upon their weaknesses. Achieving greater honor for the country in upcoming international competitions, including the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, remains a top priority.
