CM Omar Abdullah inaugurates ₹1.89 crore infrastructure projects at the Jammu Civil Secretariat to enhance facilities for staff and visitors.

Jammu, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated infrastructure projects worth ₹1.89 crore at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu on November 2. The initiatives aim to strengthen office infrastructure following the relocation of government offices under the traditional Darbar Move system.

Among the highlights of the inauguration was a new pre-fabricated office building, constructed under a capital expenditure budget of ₹1.58 crore. Abdullah also unveiled the renovation of the reception hall located at the entrance of the Civil Secretariat, which involved an expenditure of ₹31.10 lakh.

With these new facilities, the Civil Secretariat aims to enhance its infrastructure and improve the working environment as offices reopen in Jammu. During the event, engineers briefed the Chief Minister on the projects and the newly developed amenities. Abdullah inspected the new office building and assessed arrangements made for the convenience of employees and the public.

The new facilities are designed to provide a better working environment for government employees and ensure a more convenient experience for visitors to the Civil Secretariat.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Chaudhary, Chief Secretary Dheeraj Gupta, Acting Chief Secretary Shailendra Kumar, and several senior officials. Notably, following the closure of offices in the summer capital of Srinagar on October 30, all top offices of the Jammu and Kashmir government, including the Chief Minister and council members, began operations in the winter capital of Jammu on Monday.

Upon his arrival at the Jammu Civil Secretariat, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was also given a guard of honor. The Darbar Move, a tradition of transferring government offices between Srinagar and Jammu every six months, is over 160 years old and was initiated by the former Dogra rulers.
