Agartala, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Manik Saha of Tripura has accused opposition parties of lacking a fundamental understanding of politics, claiming they are more focused on misleading the public than on genuine governance. Speaking at a large rally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the outskirts of Agartala on Sunday, Saha reflected on the challenging conditions faced by residents during the long tenure of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI-M.
He emphasized that several elections are approaching, including village committee elections, and reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to contest these alongside the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Saha expressed concern over attempts to create division among the populace, recalling how CPI-M came to power in 1978 and maintained control for 35 years, with its influence evident in both West Bengal and Tripura.
Saha stated that the people of Tripura would never accept the CPI-M again, criticizing their outdated approach of seeking power through various schemes reminiscent of past tactics. He also highlighted the recent alliance between the Congress and CPI-M, accusing them of being solely interested in power and engaging in conspiracies.
He noted that during the last assembly elections, there were instances of CPI-M flags being removed from Congress offices, indicating a troubling political shift. Saha asserted that the BJP is the largest political party in the country, with its influence expanding globally. He expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in upcoming local body elections, including those for the Agartala Municipal Corporation, stating that they had previously won all 20 seats and expected to replicate that success.
Concluding his remarks, Saha emphasized that in a democracy, the public desires leaders and political parties they can trust and believe in.
