Tirupati, March 1: Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud visited the Sri Venkateswara Temple on Sunday for prayers. He arrived in Tirumala on Saturday evening. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by B.R. Naidu, the Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Executive Officer Muddu Ravi Chandra, Additional Executive Officer C.H. Venkayya Chaudhary, and District Police Superintendent L. Subbaraidu.
During the visit, priests performed a traditional welcome with Vedic chants. After having the darshan of Lord Venkateswara, the priests presented the Chief Justice with the ‘Shesh Vastra.’ Vedic scholars also conducted a ‘Veda Shirvachan’ ceremony for him at the Ranganayakula Mandapam. TTD officials gifted him prasadam and an image of the deity. Later, the Chief Justice visited the Sri Varahaswamy Temple.
It is important to note that the TTD has announced that due to a lunar eclipse on March 3, no Slot Darshan Tokens (SSD) will be issued for March 2 and 3. Tokens for March 4 will be released on March 3. Additionally, TTD has stated that VIP break darshan will also be canceled on March 3, and no recommendation letters will be accepted on March 2.
TTD has requested devotees to take note of these changes and cooperate with temple officials. They have previously announced that the Tirumala Temple will be closed for approximately 10 hours and 30 minutes on March 3 due to the lunar eclipse, from 9 AM to 7:30 PM.
The lunar eclipse will begin at 3:20 PM and end at 6:47 PM on March 3. According to tradition, the temple doors will close six hours before the eclipse starts. The doors will reopen at 7:30 PM, followed by purification rituals and ‘Punyahavachanam.’ Darshan for devotees will resume at 8:30 PM. TTD has confirmed that Arjita services and VIP break darshan will remain canceled.
