Raipur, August 7: The ambitious ‘PM Solar Home Scheme’ by the central government is providing significant relief from electricity bills to the common people. Millions of families across the country are benefiting from free electricity under this initiative. In this context, Thenhi village in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district has now become the first solar village in the region.
Under the ‘PM Solar Home Scheme’, a collective solar power plant has been established for 71 families in Thenhi village. Each family is registered for 2 kilowatts, resulting in a total of 142 kilowatts for the collective solar plant.
Land for the plant was provided about 50-75 meters away from the village. The administration confirmed that no charges were levied from any villagers for this initiative. The installation of connections in homes has also been completed.
Residents are expressing joy after the solar plant’s installation. They say the hassle of electricity bills is now over, and they are receiving clean energy.
Sarpanch Jyoti Som stated, “Solar panels have been installed under the PM Solar Home Scheme in my gram panchayat, providing free electricity. I thank PM Modi for this.”
Beneficiary Siradhan Som mentioned, “The 142-kilowatt plant installed for 71 families under the PM Solar Home Scheme has significantly reduced our electricity bills. Now, all 71 families in our village enjoy free electricity. I want to thank PM Modi for this.”
Another beneficiary, Dinesh Yadav, shared, “I used to pay a high electricity bill. Since the installation of electricity under the PM Solar Home Scheme, I have been relieved from those bills. I thank PM Modi for this.”
Dhamtari Collector Abhinash Mishra remarked, “This is a village in Chhattisgarh where residents will not have to pay electricity bills. Electricity will be supplied through solar energy.”
Officials stated that the PM Solar Home Scheme is not only relieving residents from electricity bills but is also making the village self-sufficient with clean and affordable energy.
