Raipur, March 8: On International Women’s Day, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched the 25th installment of the Mahatari Vandan Scheme during the Mahatari Vandan Conference-2026 held in Jagdalpur. Over 6.9 million women beneficiaries received direct financial transfers into their bank accounts through this initiative.
With a single click from the conference venue, the Chief Minister described this installment as a gift of joy and self-reliance for millions of women in the state.
This digital transfer provides eligible married women across the state with direct financial assistance, marking a significant step in the government’s efforts to empower women economically.
Under this scheme initiated by the Chhattisgarh government, married women receive monthly financial support of ₹1,000, totaling ₹12,000 annually. Earlier in February of this year, Chief Minister Sai transferred ₹6,413.40 crore to beneficiaries as part of the 24th installment.
The continuous distribution of these installments reflects the state government’s commitment to timely and transparent welfare programs. To date, the government has disbursed a total of ₹1,62,373.30 crore to beneficiaries under this scheme.
The event in Jagdalpur saw a large turnout, with beneficiaries utilizing the assistance for household needs, children’s education, healthcare services, and starting small enterprises. This has improved family living standards and strengthened women’s decision-making roles at home.
According to officials, this program benefits approximately 7 million women across the state. The direct transfer of funds to bank accounts has eliminated the role of intermediaries, ensuring transparency and accountability.
The Chief Minister stated that such initiatives reflect the state government’s inclusive development policy, where women’s welfare is considered the cornerstone of social progress. This latest transfer reinforces the message of equality, justice, and empowerment for women.
