
New Delhi, May 13: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has swiftly acted in the NEET UG-2026 exam paper leak case, arresting five individuals accused of involvement in the alleged irregularities. The agency has conducted raids across multiple locations in the country, seizing crucial documents and electronic devices.
Among those arrested are Shubham Khairnar from Nashik, Maharashtra, and four others: Mangilal Biwal, Vikas Biwal, Dinesh Biwal from Jaipur, Rajasthan, and Yash Yadav from Gurugram, Haryana.
The CBI initiated this case on May 12, 2026, following a written complaint from the Ministry of Education (Higher Education Department). The FIR includes charges of criminal conspiracy, fraud, and criminal breach of trust under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
Raids were conducted in several states, including Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Haryana, leading to the confiscation of objectionable materials, including mobile phones and laptops. The agency is collaborating with the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Rajasthan Police, which conducted the initial investigation.
According to CBI sources, interrogations of the arrested suspects are ongoing, and efforts are underway to locate several other individuals linked to the case. The agency aims to uncover the entire paper leak syndicate through technical, digital forensic, and financial analysis.
