Carolina Marin announces comeback after injury

Madrid, March 25 : Three-time world champion and Rio Olympics gold medallist Carolina Marin of Spain on Friday announced her comeback to international circuit as she all set to take part in European Badminton Championships in April after a long injury break. “It’s a very important day for me. I want to announce my competition comeback at the European Championships. I’m very happy, excited and motivated,” official Olympics website quoted Marin as saying. “When I found out that the European champs were going to be held here in Madrid, it was very exciting. It was then that we decided to step up the preparation, and put it as a goal. I’m enjoying a lot, and I feel like a badminton player again,” she added. Marin sustained a knee injury during 2019 Indonesia Masters finals, as a result of which she missed the World Championship the same year. She showcased a stunning comeback and went on to win back-to back titles in early 2021; two Thailand Open and Swiss Open title. On June 1, she announced that she had torn her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and both menisci in her left knee and had to undergone surgery and thus missed to defend her Olympic title.
