Montreal, July 31 – Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek advanced smoothly into the third round of the National Bank Open (Canadian Open). On Wednesday, she defeated China’s Guo Hanyu in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.

This was Swiatek’s first match since her Wimbledon final, where she beat Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 to claim her sixth Grand Slam title. With this win, Swiatek extended her streak to 24 consecutive games won.
Speaking after the match, Swiatek said, “I think I played a very solid game today. It’s always challenging to return to hard courts after such a long break, but I was able to stay focused, adapt to the conditions, and perform well.”
The second-seeded Polish star will now face the winner of the match between Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Germany’s Eva Lys on Friday.
