Bus Accident in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir Leaves Ten Injured
A bus accident in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, injured around ten passengers, prompting swift medical assistance and local government response.

Udhampur, October 21 (Daily Kiran) : A bus accident occurred on Wednesday morning in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in injuries to approximately ten passengers. The injured individuals were transported to the sub-district hospital in Ramnagar for treatment.
The bus was en route from Pachound to Ramnagar when it crashed near Gully Gala on the Basantgarh-Ramnagar road. Reports indicate that the vehicle skidded off the road, leading to the injuries of more than ten individuals.
Following the incident, Union Minister Jitendra Singh contacted Udhampur District Commissioner Anant Dwivedi to ensure that the victims received all possible assistance. Singh shared updates on social media platform ‘X’, stating, “After receiving news of the bus accident on the Basantgarh-Ramnagar road, I spoke with Udhampur’s DC Anant Dwivedi. Thanks to the timely help from locals, all passengers were quickly evacuated. Meanwhile, rescue teams have reached the site.”
He added, “Nine to ten injured passengers are being taken to the sub-district hospital in Ramnagar. So far, there have been no reports of fatalities. Every possible form of assistance is being provided. My office is in constant contact with the administration.”
In a related incident, at least four people were injured in a separate road accident in Doda district last week. That incident occurred near Shenai in the Bhalla area, where a mini-bus traveling from Doda to Bhaderwah met with an accident.
Road accidents are common in the hilly districts of Jammu and Kashmir, such as Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur, and parts of Budgam. These incidents are often attributed to challenging geographic conditions, adverse weather, and infrastructural issues. Dangerous terrain, poor road conditions, narrow roads, sharp turns, steep slopes, and limited visibility make driving on hilly highways and link roads particularly hazardous.
