Kohima, Mar 19 : The 11th Session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly began on Saturday with the address of Governor of Nagaland and Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi. The first day of the session began with an Obituary that referred to the passing of Dr Kakheto Zhimomi, former MLA, who passed away in February. The reference was made by Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. Late Dr Kakheto Zhimoni’s death was a great loss to the Sumi comm ty in particular, and to Nagas in general. In respect of the departed soul, the House observed a five-minute silence. Later, Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Sharingain Longkumer read out the statement on NEVA (National E-VIDHAN). According to the statement, NEVA is a medium, E- Tablet, E-book focused on paperless to work effectively with transparency during the Assembly sessions. It is to note that Nagaland is the first state in the Country to operationalise NEVA with 90 pc funded by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, GOI, and 10 pc by the State Government. The Speaker while appreciating the efforts made by the Ministry urged the Member of the House to make good use of it. AS RN
