New Delhi, May 12: The Border Security Force (BSF) has successfully apprehended one Indian national and seven Bangladeshi citizens in a significant operation. Officials reported this development on Monday.
The operation took place in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. All individuals arrested have been handed over to the Kuchlibari police station.
The vigilant personnel of the BSF’s 174th Battalion, stationed at the Dhaparahat border post, achieved this success through their robust internal intelligence and stringent border surveillance.
During the operation, BSF troops arrested one Indian broker, Sushil Shil (25, Teesta Pyasti, Dhaparahat), along with the seven Bangladeshi nationals. Initial inquiries revealed that the Bangladeshi citizens were traveling from Kerala to celebrate Eid in their home country and planned to re-enter India illegally afterward.
The BSF’s timely intervention thwarted their attempt at illegal infiltration. All arrested individuals have been transferred to the Kuchlibari police station for further legal action.
The BSF continues to maintain effective control over smuggling, infiltration, and other illegal activities along the India-Bangladesh international border through vigilance and a strong intelligence network.
This operation was conducted under the proficient guidance of Pawan Kumar Pankaj, Deputy Inspector General of the Regional Headquarters in Jalpaiguri, who has been instrumental in reinforcing security and trust in border areas.
