Hyderabad, May 12: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged a protest in Amberpet on Tuesday, demanding the arrest of Union Minister Bandisanjay Kumar’s son, Bandhi Bhagirath. A case has been filed against Bhagirath under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
BRS activists called for Bhagirath’s immediate arrest, as he is reportedly on the run. The protest saw participation from BRS MLA Kaleru Venkatesh, along with party leaders and women activists.
Venkatesh accused the Congress government of attempting to shield Bandisanjay’s son. He claimed that instead of filing a case against Bhagirath, authorities were trying to protect him by filing a case against the victim and her family, alleging a honey trap.
The BRS leader demanded that Bandisanjay resign from his ministerial position, taking responsibility for the incident. He urged the state government to arrest Bhagirath without delay and called on everyone to fight for justice for the victim’s family.
In a social media post, the BRS stated that Bandhi Bhagirath, accused in the POCSO case, is allegedly absconding. They urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.
The BRS criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, asserting that the Congress government has swiftly arrested individuals in other cases but is delaying Bhagirath’s arrest. “Are there different rules for different people? The minor girl deserves justice,” they stated.
On May 8, a case was registered against Bandhi Bhagirath at the Pet Basheerabad police station under the POCSO Act for the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl.
