New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The BRICS Women Business Alliance (WBA) and the BRICS Business Council have underscored the urgent need for greater opportunities for female entrepreneurs, increased mutual trade, and deeper business collaboration among member nations. This initiative aims to transform the economic potential of BRICS countries into tangible growth and job creation.
During the presentation of the 2026 annual report under India’s presidency, WBA President Avrana Jain highlighted that women in BRICS nations are establishing businesses, creating jobs, and driving innovation. She emphasized the next goal is to elevate women’s roles from mere participation to leadership positions.
Jain stated, “It is essential for more women entrepreneurs to scale their small businesses to larger platforms, taking local successes to broader BRICS markets and stepping into leadership roles.” She believes that women’s economic empowerment should be viewed not only as a social or regional issue but as a vital economic strategy.
The WBA’s recommendations focus on creating a favorable environment for women-led enterprises, enhancing access to capital and innovation, increasing economic resilience through women-driven solutions, and expanding successful models throughout the BRICS network.
Jain commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, noting that India has placed ‘women-led development’ at the heart of its growth journey, a perspective she believes can inspire other BRICS nations.
Meanwhile, BRICS Business Council President Jai Shroff emphasized the need for greater economic integration among member countries. He pointed out that while BRICS nations possess vast economic potential, large markets, natural resources, and technological capabilities, the challenge lies in effectively connecting these assets.
Shroff remarked, “We should engage in more trade with each other, invest more in one another, develop robust value chains, share technologies, and forge new partnerships among businesses.” He indicated that the real challenge for BRICS nations is not building capacity, but rather converting existing capacity into more opportunities and growth.
The recommendations from the BRICS Business Council align with India’s presidency focused on four key pillars: resilience, innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. Shroff explained that resilience strengthens the economy, innovation boosts competitiveness, collaboration accelerates development, and sustainability ensures long-term success.
Both organizations stressed that without increased active business participation, investment collaboration, and a greater role for the private sector, the full economic potential of the BRICS group cannot be realized. They believe that promoting women’s entrepreneurship, providing opportunities for MSMEs, and strengthening cross-border trade collaboration will invigorate inclusive and sustainable development within BRICS countries.
