Mumbai, April 12: The world of Hindi cinema is in mourning as the iconic singer Asha Bhosle has passed away. The beloved artist breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. She was admitted on April 11 due to a chest infection, but succumbed to multi-organ failure today. The news of her demise has sent shockwaves through the industry, leaving many in disbelief.
Singer Jubin Nautiyal expressed his sorrow over Bhosle’s passing. He shared cherished photos of her on social media, stating, “The voice that turned silence into soul has now become silence itself. With Asha Bhosle’s departure, we have lost not just a singer, but an era, a feeling, a heartbeat that resonated in countless songs. Her voice was not just heard but felt—in heartbreak, love, longing, and joy. Generations grew up listening to her, feeling her essence. Today, melodies feel heavy, and silence feels deeper. Yet, great personalities like her never truly leave; their echoes remain in every note, every memory, and in every heart that found solace in her songs.”
Television actor Sudhanshu Pandey shared a rare photo with the singer, reminiscing, “When this picture was taken with my head resting in your lap, I never thought it would become my most treasured possession. You adorned this world with your beautiful voice and have now left us forever. Will miss you always, Asha.”
Mimicry artist and comedian Jamie Lever also expressed her grief over Bhosle’s passing. She described it as an unforgettable shock. Lever shared photos on social media, stating, “My heart aches as I write this. I have always admired her artistry, and throughout my life, I have been inspired by her voice and style. I was so captivated by her singing that I naturally began to mimic her. People enjoy my impersonation, but the truth is, there is no one like Asha Ji.”
She added, “I always wanted to meet her, but now that is not possible. If she had pinched my cheeks or perhaps slapped me, or said something like ‘crazy girl,’ I would have gladly accepted it. As I have said before, ‘You are, so we are.’ A part of me, ‘Little Asha Ji,’ exists because of her.”
Riddhima Kapoor also expressed her condolences via Instagram Stories, marking Bhosle’s passing as the end of an era. Research advisor for the film “Dhurandhar,” Aditya Raj Kaul, paid tribute on social media, writing, “The esteemed singer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Asha Bhosle has passed away. Prayers. Om Shanti!”
Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon shared her sorrow but found solace in the fact that she always expressed her love for Bhosle whenever they met. She wrote on Instagram, “Oh no, Asha Ji, I love you so much. I’m glad I told you how much I loved you every chance I got.”
Bhojpuri singer Akshara Singh paid tribute by sharing a photo of Asha Bhosle. Singer Jasleen Matharu posted a photo with the legend, calling her the most precious gem. She wrote, “You will always remain in our hearts… May your soul rest in peace.” Akshay Kumar and Tusshar Kapoor also expressed their condolences.
