Ranchi, May 20: The discovery of the body of an 11th-grade student, Payal Kumari, near the Usri River in Giridih district, Jharkhand, has sent shockwaves through the community. Payal had been missing for two days before her body was found on Wednesday. The police have taken possession of the body and initiated an investigation.
Payal, a resident of Sirsiya, left her home on Monday morning. According to her family, she was pursuing studies while also receiving training in sewing and tutoring children. She informed her family that she was heading out for tutoring and sewing classes.
Typically, Payal would return home by afternoon. However, when she did not return on Monday, her family attempted to contact her. They reported that she had communicated with them around noon, stating she was leaving the block and would be home soon. Shortly after, her phone was found to be switched off. Concerned, the family began searching for her but found no leads.
Eventually, they reported her missing to the police. Authorities began investigating her mobile call details and questioned her friends and acquaintances. On Wednesday morning, they received reports of a body discovered near the old bridge at the Usri River. Upon arrival, police identified the body as that of Payal Kumari.
The news of her death quickly spread, drawing a large crowd to the scene. Her family is devastated, and her cousin, Pintu Kumar Das, has called for a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible. Upon receiving the report, SDPO Jeetbahen Uraan and police officer Vivek Madhuri visited the site to assess the situation. The SDPO confirmed that a missing person’s report had already been filed and that the investigation is considering all angles.
