Kolkata, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to install 1,500 book stalls near major Durga Puja pandals in West Bengal this year. These stalls will feature literature focusing on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service, teachings of Hinduism, and nationalist ideology.
A member of the BJP’s state committee noted that there is significant demand for books related to the party’s ideology and Hindu teachings. To cater to this interest, the stalls will prominently display works celebrating Modi’s two-and-a-half decades in governance.
Additionally, books highlighting the life and contributions of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, will also be available. Special pamphlets detailing various projects and achievements of both central and state governments will be distributed for free to visitors at these stalls during the festival.
Pamphlets showcasing the achievements of the BJP-led state government in its first five months will also be featured. According to the committee member, these materials will detail investments in the state, the number of beneficiaries from social welfare schemes, administrative reforms, and initiatives related to women’s safety and economic empowerment. The party aims to inform the public about government schemes and accomplishments through these publications.
In a related development, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) is also preparing to set up book stalls near popular Durga Puja pandals. This initiative aligns with the leftist tradition of promoting political literature during festivals. Historically, CPI-M stalls have focused largely on Marxist literature; however, this year, the party plans to broaden its selection to include works by popular Bengali authors alongside traditional Marxist texts.
Both the BJP and CPI-M’s efforts will ensure a diverse array of political literature, government achievement pamphlets, and literary works at key religious sites during Durga Puja.
