BJP Releases Fifth List of Candidates for West Bengal Elections

Kolkata, April 5: Political activity in West Bengal is intensifying as the state gears up for the upcoming assembly elections. Political parties are mobilizing all their resources for the contest. In this context, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its fifth list of candidates.

The BJP’s central election committee revealed the names of five candidates for the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections on Saturday. Additionally, the party has released a revised list of candidates for three seats.

According to the list, the candidates include Taraknath Chatterjee from Krishnanagar North, Anupam Biswas from Kalyani, Sourav Sikdar from Dum Dum North, Anindrya Raju Banerjee from Madhyamgram, and Rudraprasad Banerjee from Uluberia East.

The BJP has also updated its candidate list for three assembly seats. Kaushik Siddharth will contest from Bashirhat North, Abhijit Sardar from Vishnupur, and Shankar Sikdar from Behala East.

So far, the BJP has declared candidates for 292 assembly seats in West Bengal. The party announced 144 candidates in its first list, 111 in the second, 19 in the third, and 13 in the fourth list.

According to the Election Commission, voting in West Bengal will take place in two phases: the first phase on April 23 and the second phase on April 29. The election results will be announced on May 4. Meanwhile, senior leaders from various political parties are visiting Bengal, and a war of words continues among leaders from different factions.
